Hawaiian Eye Foundation

Serving on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Hawaiian Eye Foundation has been an “eye opener”! The mission is to bring experienced eye surgeons to the many islands in Polynesia in the South Pacific that have NO eye surgeons at all! Repeated journeys to Tonga and Fiji have actually trained surgical nurses to perform some of the basic eye surgeries! The H.E.F. is also the guiding spirit of the Hawaiian Eye Meeting, which has become the third largest ophthalmology conference in the United States.

Since participating on a journey to Tonga in 2000, Dr. Miller has remained active on the Board, and anticipates returning to Fiji. Enjoy this moving video of last year’s trip!
