Glaucoma is a disease where pressure builds in the eye, causing injury to the optic nerve. In severe cases, if glaucoma is left untreated, it can lead to blindness.

Glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness in the United States.

Symptoms include eye pain, red eyes, halos, headaches, and nausea. However, many times the disease grows without any symptoms. Many individuals don’t realize they have glaucoma until their vision becomes impaired.

It is estimated that glaucoma affects one in every 50 adults living in the US. Although glaucoma can occur at any age, the risk of developing glaucoma increases dramatically after age 35. People at a high risk are those with a family history of glaucoma, African Americans, Hispanics, and people over the age of 60.
